| #1 Is ddr2 ram and ddr pc2-5300 the same thing? on 01/01/1970 00:00 | |

I have a HP pavilion dv2000 laptop with dual core processor and windows XP.The RAM is only 512mb, but is listed as DDR PC2-5300. I have an available slot and would like to upgrade to 2 x 1G. However, when i search for 1G ddr pc2-5300, all of the responses are for ddr2 ram. am i therefore correct in assuming that 'ddr pc2-5300' is the same as 'ddr2'? How do i purchase compatible RAM? How do i find out how many pins are in my current RAM as the RAM that i have come accross for sale vary between 200 and 240 pins. any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank-you

i'm pretty sure pc2 is ddr2, you really should double check, but i'm pretty sure it is. as for the pins I think 200 is for laptops and 240 is for desktops.
also, i dont think you have too get 5300 you can get fast if you want. _('~')_/ how does it feel to be something on? |

Quote from scankyfrank also, i dont think you have too get 5300 you can get fast if you want. That depends if the motherboard supports faster RAM. DDR2-667 = PC2-5300 |
