The crashed tables for registration and other stuff is easy to fix (using the Mysql command "REPAIR TABLE").

What we could do is start compling a list of bugs on the Tasks page, so if and when development resumes the developers know what needs doing.

I've got no idea. I'll send off an email to one of the admins in a moment to check, since I've been meaning to contact them anyway.

There seems to be ~10 guests on most days, but I have no idea if that's genuine users or crawler bots. If they are real users we need to do something to convince them to register.

http://maxmind.com has a awesome IP location database. They let you try it for free, but you have to pay to have it. They have a free "Lite" database with less features, but you have to download it and install it, and they don't let you just link to their database that I know of.

Like I said, you can try it for free on their main page. As far as I know, you can try it as many times as you want. EDIT: You can do it 25 times a day (which I think would be plenty)

I am thinking, why not cURL that site and post the IP address then grab the info. Is this legal/ethical? Also I am doing this for a plugin for Joomla, so would you recommend it?

To answer let me suggest a couple things

Legally, if its free and online and anyone can use it, how can it be illegal?

Ethically, as long as you provide some kind of advertisement claiming it is NOT your tool and giving people credit its fine. You might have to put on a captcha to keep the site from being spammed with your requests but yeah otherwise it should be fine

I could see them having a problem with it since you would be wasting their bandwidth - specially if you get their suspicion by requesting 25 a day.

These companies make it free but, they also provide advertising to their products on the site, if you use a script to provide their service without their ads - you could get in trouble. But, like mdk said, if its free, there shouldn't be a problem with it.

I would check their Terms and Conditions for the services they offer before you start developing (unless its for personal use, then don't even bother)

That's not a bug, that's an unexpected feature

I found a new site(http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/ip-address-locator.php). No limit on searches, just as much info. No disclaimers or anything about me linking or using the info. Its a little more parsing on my part. I figure I will make it optional, and when enabled, the user will get a link to the website where the info came from. I will just have to keep tabs on it to make sure those people don't update their site too much or I will have to reparse the info.

@swift - Its going to be bad ass! Its fully functional, just making the non-necesary addons to make it something special.
