so, what y'all think of the new Firefox? I'm surprised no one has started a thread on it.
anyway it so much faster. I had to compile mine from source so I got get a 64-bit version but It was worth it. Also I was looking at the html5 demo... do you really think it could really kill off flash/silverlight? Also.. the porn mode(private browsing mode?) is going to be useful for some people... maybe, Obviously not be though. anyway post something... ...! _('~')_/ how does it feel to be something on? |

I love it. CSS 3 works on 3.5, so you got stuff like rounded corners, shadows, opacity, etc, all made super easy. I tried looking at some HTML 5 stuff, and it looks like HTML 5 isn't fully supported yet... input types (color, email, required) but it does have the geo-location, that is pretty damn exact. The speed of the javascript is notably faster, for one example, check out www.chromeexperiments.com in IE or lower version of FF, then try it in 3.5. I love it. Also, yes the private browsing is nice. I use it on my friends/family computers when I am checking my email so there is no way they can get access to it if I forget to log out.
Only disappointing thing is that most useful addons are 3.0 or lower and you have to hack them to make them work with 3.5. Doesn't take long, but it's a pain in the arse. They should implement a feature that allows you to install it at your own risk anyways. I used Opera about 2 years ago, and it sounds like Opera has come a long way as well, as it supports a lot more HTML 5, and people say that it is just as fast as FF. Any thoughts? http://lifehacker.com/5295655/top-10-firefox-35-features <-- New FF features.

Opera is really quite good, It just lacks lots of addons that firefox has.
to get it not to check compatibility you have to go to about:config and add a new boolean value called "extensions.checkCompatibility" and set it to false. All your old addons should work. Lucky all my addons work fine :) _('~')_/ how does it feel to be something on? |

What HTML 5 demo? I guess you refer to Google's Youtube one?
Can it kill if flash or silverlight though, I would be inclined to say yes. Flash will stick around for a while because HTML 5 support still needs to be transitioned too - wikipedia says that support is bad. Today it's just not possible to support it only but soon we will see support for it. It's also easy to support it because you can write code like so it falls back on to flash support if it's unsupported. Code Highlighting :: Select Code We just have to wait for browsers to implement the standard properly. Being in the standard has major advantages such as when you can't install a plugin to enable flash on a work pc or mobile browser. I like private browsing mode for when someone needs to use my pc I would prefer if their actions did not leave a footprint. Opera Unite is an impress feature of Opera, one click webserver your computer is cool among others. Browser's are all getting a lot better and implementing a lot of the same features, it's the additional features that are unique that should define them. |

I liked the video in pyro's link. It really shows how smooth an seamless the javascript librarys are becoming.
