Weird problem - laptop DVD±R/RW DL plays SOME DVD's fine but lots of others don't work. After much experimentation it seems to be only the LAYER-1 DVD's that actually work.

Is there anything I can do to fix this or is it most likely a hardware fault?

Nero infotoo
Drive : HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4084N
Type : DVD±R/RW DL Recorder
Firmware Version : KQ09
Buffer Size : 2 MB
Serial Number : KYA6CCC2543
OS : Windows XP Pro(sp2)
laptop=HP pavilion dv2000

That is awfully weird. Could be that its outdated. Its late so im not checking. But if the drive was made before dual layer it prob wont recognize them. But thats just me.
