Hey boys (and girls?),
Well, I'm back (kinda). Some of you may remember me from when ZI first started, and I haven't been around much recently but hopefully I can get more involved again. I just wanted to tell y'all about a little bug i found in my schools filtering system. I bring my laptop (EEEPC 901) to school and found out a simple way of bypassing the filters completely by accident and i still have no idea why it works. One night, my laptop ran out of battery while I was on facebook, and I didnt feel like turning it on and all so i just went to sleep. The next day at school, I turned it on and opened up firefox, which asked me if I wanted to restore my session. Not thinking, I said yes and suddenly it logged me into facebook. So now every night i log onto facebook then shut down my laptop without closing firefox and at school the next day its 100% unblocked. Weird... Anyway, see y'all around, Tux <person i was helping> says: SELECT ' UNION ALL FROM users? bigggnick@gmail.com says: lol person says: SELECT 'UNION ALL' FROM users? LEARN SQL BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO INJECT IT!!!!!! |

Its possible... Maybe the school only filters the index/login pages??? That's a horrible way of filtering, but if you were continuing a session, you wouldn't have to go to those pages and would technically bypass the filter. Just an idea.

You are definitely viewing cached pages. Most filters work as proxies that cannot get to certain sites. SO unless you're tunneling through a different connection, there is no possibility to get around the filter.

I do remember a long time ago when I was in primary school you could get round the filter by following links... The filter must have been local and only checked the address bar. _('~')_/ how does it feel to be something on? |

Quote from mrdotkom If that were the case, you could get around it by using a different browser. do you mean for tux or my old school? I could of probably use a different browser for my old school. Obviously what I discribed isn't going to apply to Tuxes situation so fuck you, you mothers a whore. _('~')_/ how does it feel to be something on? |

actually... pyr0 may be correct. I have run into filters in the workplace that block only the index and login pages of specific sites. You can bypass these filters in the way that tux did or by following links to other pages within the site.

They are most certainly NOT cached pages, the updates are live, facebook chat works, I can write on walls, go to pages I haven't been on, etc. My suspicion is that is is just blocking the login pages, but on facebook you login from the index and the home page, which aren't blocked. Its really quite odd, but I think pyr0's explanation is the closest.
